US visa appointments from the UAE

There is no visa application centre for US visas in the UAE: the US Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the US Consulate General in Dubai handle visas themselves. Right now the embassy's own pages disagree on whether they take routine applications.

The US Embassy says two different things. Check with the embassy before you book.

  • Its visas page: “While the U.S. Embassy in Abu Dhabi and Consulate in Dubai are open, routine visa processing is not available in the United Arab Emirates at this time.” (ae.usembassy.gov/visas, read 1 Nov 2026)
  • Its notice of 8 August 2026: “The U.S. Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the U.S. Consulate in Dubai are open, and limited visa processing is available at this time.” (embassy notice, read 1 Nov 2026)
  • The booking site the embassy links, ustraveldocs.com/ae, answered “page not found” (404) on 1 Nov 2026.
