What the consulates in London say about agencies
- Germany: waiting lists against booking agencies. “As demand for Schengen visa appointments currently exceeds the visa section’s capacity, and in order to protect visa applicants from fraudulent and expensive appointment booking agencies, the Embassy will establish a waiting list through its external service provider TLS Contact in London and Manchester from 01.06.2026 onwards so as to ensure fair and equal access to appointments for everyone.” “Waiting list registrations and appointment booking for Schengen visa applications can only be done online via the website of our external service provider, TLS Contact. Once an appointment has been allocated, you have to pay the service fee within 24 hours.” German Embassy London · read 1 Nov 2026
- Netherlands: “To apply for a Schengen visa in the United Kingdom go to the VFS Global application centre in Birmingham, Edinburgh, London or Manchester. You can only submit an application there if you live in the United Kingdom.” “Avoid unnecessary costs and book your appointment yourself. Do not make an appointment through an intermediary.” NetherlandsWorldwide · read 1 Nov 2026
- Italy: “Appointments are exclusively managed through our service partner, VFS Global.” “An extra fee will be applied as a service charge.” “The applicant is hereby informed that the submission all the required documentation does not guarantee the issuance of any particular visa.” Italian Consulate General, London · read 1 Nov 2026
- Spain: “Once you have all required documents, you should get an appointment at BLS International London” Spanish Consulate General, London · read 1 Nov 2026
- France: France-Visas: “Visa applicants are advised to exercise caution in all transactions with companies claiming to offer assistance in obtaining French visas.” An undated TLScontact guide for France, still online, adds: “Booking an appointment via TLScontact is free of charge and please beware of fake online agencies.” France-Visas, archived copy of 16 Oct 2026 · TLScontact (read 1 Nov 2026)
Accredited agencies: what EU law allows
- Who may lodge an application: “applications may be lodged: (a) by the applicant; (b) by an accredited commercial intermediary; (c) by a professional, cultural, sports or educational association or institution on behalf of its members.” EU Visa Code, archived copy of 30 Oct 2025
- Only on an accreditation: “Member States may cooperate with commercial intermediaries for the lodging of applications, except for the collection of biometric identifiers.” “Such cooperation shall be based on the granting of an accreditation by Member States’ relevant authorities.” EU Visa Code, archived copy of 30 Oct 2025
- Lists, where relevant: “Each consulate and the central authorities shall make sure that the public is informed of the list of accredited commercial intermediaries with which they cooperate, where relevant.” EU Visa Code, archived copy of 30 Oct 2025
- The one list we found is old. In September 2022 TLScontact's FAQ for France listed 9 agencies accredited by the French Consulate General to submit applications at its UK centres. We couldn't read the current list, so no agency on this page carries an accreditation mark. TLScontact, archived copy of 29 Sept 2022
